The paper by Christian Seidl and Jingvi Meng focuses on the role of contextual effects in experiments. Based on the analysis of income evaluation questionnaires, they demonstrate, among other things, the existence of anchor effects and of significant differences in evaluation when switching between top-down and bottom-up arrangements of income categories in the questionnaires. Categorization thus proves to be a useful tool for investigating contextual effects in income evaluation.
