„Stiglitz is one of the few well-known economists who, as a scientist, continues to take a critical stance on many economic policy issues and hyperglobalization well into old age. His textbook, which can also be seen as typical for the financial science textbook literature not only in Germany as a whole, is, however, on a consistently market-liberal and state-skeptical line. There is good money to be made in the U.S. from textbooks that are in demand, a temptation that Stiglitz apparently could not resist. Other Ivy League scholars also display a certain multitongued half-heartedness, especially when it comes to clear demands for reform.“ (H. Peukert)
