In her contribution “Entering the ‘post-shame era’: the rise of illiberal democracy, populism and neo-authoritarianism in Europe” Ruth Wodak deals with discursive shifts by the turquoise-blue Austrian federal government. She shows how openly displayed attitudes of rejection towards European values, treaties and conventions are paving the way to illiberalism and neo-authoritarianism.
Jenseits der Konventionen: Alternatives Denken zu Wirtschaft, Gesellschaft und Politik
ist em. Professorin an der Lancaster University (UK) und Professorin i.R. für Angewandte Linguistik, Universität Wien. Sie ist Mitglied der Academia Europaea und der British Academy of Social Sciences und seit 2020 Ehrensenatorin der Universität Wien. 2010 wurde ihr ein Ehrendoktorat der University Örebro, Schweden und 2020 ein Ehrendoktorat der University Warwick, UK, verliehen. Zu ihren Forschungsschwerpunkten zählen kritische Diskursforschung, Sprache und Politik (Populismusforschung), Identitäts- und Vergangenheitspolitik, Gender Studies, Migrationsforschung, und linguistische Vorurteilsforschung zu Rassismus und Antisemitismus.
