From the editors’ preface:
Jonathan Keir, an expert in philosophies from various world regions, endeavors to present historical and cultural-philosophical perspectives on the New Silk Roads in order to show the need for increased inter-civilization dialogue to overcome the deep sense of mistrust that accompanies China’s rise to power. He questions Eurocentric understandings of global processes, criticizes the lack of knowledge about the Chinese civilization and invites the reader to sympathize with attempts by the Chinese to step out of the shadow of Western interventionalism. He also advocates to more clearly differentiating more clearlye between the Chinese party state, people and civilization.
