Abstract:

In the first part of my paper, I refer to "public domain" constituting the fundamental basis of sustainable development science. I do also present the most important conceptual points of the problem in my own interpretation. Most of the points agree with my personal opinion and meet also expectations expressed in the guideline document called "Langfassung der Kernaussagen der nachhaltigen Ökonomie". Next, with regard to some details, I express my doubts and add my personal commentary. In the second part, of the paper I pretend to play a role of advocatus diaboli proposing rather pessimistic remarks on sustainability indicators. In fact, I wish to concentrate attention on the controversy between empirical approach and ideological approach to sustainable development and its indicators. On the end of my paper, I do propose a new field of interest and some interesting opportunities for collaboration and research.
