László Andor and Petr Gočev point out that a vast section of the “political elite” of Hungary and the Czech Republic do not see a rapid adoption of the euro as a priority – and the same can be said about Poland as well. As Gočev points out, this does not exclude the possibility that the Maastricht criteria might be invoked in order to promote a liberal economic policy agenda.
