Ocean acidification is a long-term and encroaching environmental problem. Ocean acidification might impair marine biodiversity to a large extent.
The book deals with this global problem both from a scientific and a sustainability perspective. The sustainability perspective rests both on environmental ethics and intergenerational justice. Case studies specify risks and possible loss and damages caused by ocean acidification. Authors argue that there is an urgent need to halt ocean acidification as soon as possible. Curbing CO2-emissions by fast and agressive mitigation policies is crucial.
The book has resulted from a work package carried out by researchers of Kiel University as part of the the BMBF funded research project BIOACID coordinated by GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel.
